Child Watch

As a father I am all to familiar with the concerns and issues facing many parents regarding childcare. For women, the decision to return to work after having a baby is difficult enough without having to worry about who will take care of your child and whether or not that person will do their job.

For many parents in-home childcare is the most attractive solution because it enables their child to remain in familiar surroundings without exposure to illnesses from other children and the daily hassle of transportation to a childcare facility. However, in-home childcare is not without risk. We all have seen the frightening reports on the news and the Oprah show, in which caregivers have been caught on videotape abusing and or neglecting the children they were supposed to be taking care of. In these reports the parents were shocked to learn of what was occurring, or in some instances not occurring, while they were at work. Although most parents will tell you that they trust their nanny, statistics show that upon watching the nanny/child interacting on hidden video, the majority of parents will fire their nanny.

If the idea of setting up hidden cameras in your home makes you uncomfortable, keep in mind that all employees, whether we are talking about a lawyer or mechanic, are subject to periodic review and assessment. When it comes to nannies and babysitters you are responsible for monitoring and evaluating their performance. Our systems allow you to observe the performance of the caregiver when you are not at home. Remember that the way the caregiver acts when you are home may be dramatically different then when you are away.

We are not trying to scare anyone, but the simple fact is that nannies and babysitters are for the most part unregulated in the U.K. In many instances these individuals are less than truthful during personal interviews and falsify information given to agencies for which they work. A legitimate reference is no guarantee of how the caregiver will interact with your child. You must act responsibly and make sure your loved one is being properly cared for. The only way to be certain is to see it for yourself.

My company sells and installs top of the line video surveillance equipment to parents and guardians who wish to monitor the interaction between their caregiver and child. While our systems are high tech, they are very easy to use and can be installed in your home at any time. If you do anything else, do it for your peace of mind.
